2019 NFL Mock Draft

2019 NFL Mock Draft
Nick Gaschler
And now we get to the next stage. The 2019 NFL Draft is a year away, but that doesn’t mean coverage
and projections starts 9 months from now. Here I give my first 2019 NFL Mock Draft. The order is
determined based on my schedule projections for each team during the 2018 NFL Season. Enjoy!

1. Miami Dolphins-Shea Patterson-QB-Michigan

If the Tannehill experiment flops this year, the ‘Fins will be at the top of the board. In this case in a
3-way battle for the top QB, Michigan’s Patterson wins over Drew Lock and Jarrett Stidham. I
believe Shea can be an electric piece to Miami’s offense and make them a lot better.

2. Cincinnati Bengals-Drew Lock-QB-Mizzou

Andy Dalton’s mediocre run comes to an end as the Bengals select the exciting SEC QB that could
end up going very high in the Draft. Lock can finally help fulfill AJ Green and the rest of the offenses
destiny in Cincinnati and make them a team to be afraid of soon.

3. Cleveland Browns-Nick Bosa-DE-Ohio State

The Browns need a DE to pair with Myles Garrett after they passed up on Bradley Chubb and if Nick
is as any good as his brother Joey, he will be going high. He and Myles Garrett can wreck offenses in
the AFC North and beyond for years after this.

4. Arizona Cardinals-Ed Oliver-DT-Houston

Arizona’s disastrous QB situation puts them here and this is where Steve Wilks gets his guy. Ed Oliver
is probably the best player in this class and putting him in Arizona as an anchor on that line could be
really good for him and the Cardinals.

5. Chicago Bears-Dexter Lawrence-DT-Clemson

The Bears passed on both Jonathan Allen and Solomon Thomas in 2017 so grabbing a stud defensive
tackle wouldn’t be a bad idea here. Big Dex’s ability to dominate makes him one of the best players in
this class and we could see Fridge-like potential from him.

6. New York Jets-Bryce Love-RB-Stanford

The Jets 4th season in 5 years picking in the top 10, it’s time to build around Sammy D to get out of the
Top 10 and I see Bryce Love being an integral part of this. He’s an incredible runner and if paired with
Darnold could become a premier offensive player in the NFL.

7. Washington Redskins-Trey Adams-OT-Washington

Trent Williams will be 30 going on 31 in 2019 and Geron Christian isn’t the type of guy to take his
place so the Redskins draft Adams to develop for a couple years maybe put a RT if Morgan Moses
breaks down and add at LT when Williams’ contract expires. Good pick.

8. New York Giants-Jarrett Stidham-QB-Auburn

The third musketeer in the QB class falls to 8 to replace Eli Manning. Stidham would be an incredible
football player with Saquon Barkley in the backfield and the other talent on offense in New York.
He would develop pretty quickly and turn into a star really fast.

9. Seattle Seahawks-Greedy Williams-CB-LSU

Greedy Williams could come in, work with Shaquill Griffin and strengthen the Seahawks secondary
into something great after his breakout season. The newest member of DBU would be very good in
Seattle and work to become a star quicker than expected.

10. Indianapolis Colts-Greg Little-OT-Ole Miss

Arguably the best tackle in the class, the Colts would be playoff contenders with Little, Quenton Nelson,
Ryan Kelly, Braden Smith, and maybe Anthony Castonzo on the O-Line and Andrew Luck at QB. This
would be an obvious pick for Indy and make their offense elite.

11. Green Bay Packers(via NO)-Jonah Williams-OT-Alabama

Getting one of the best offensive tackle in the class would make Green Bay into a bigger threat than
they already are and makes their offensive line a lot more stable. No matter how much longer Aaron
Rodgers plays, Williams will be great for the next QB that comes in.

12. Los Angeles Chargers-AJ Brown-WR-Ole Miss

I like Keenan Allen and believe he can still be great, but Mike Williams hasn’t developed
and looks to be a bust if he doesn’t do anything this year so the Chargers go back to the drawing
board and get a very talented player in AJ Brown.

13. Buffalo Bills-Rashan Gary-DL-Michigan

Whether you put him in where Marcell Dareus played or as a DE where Shaq Lawson plays, Rashan
has the versatility to be successful on the next level and I think he could bring the thunder for a Bills
defensive line that lacks a lot of that.

14. Baltimore Ravens-Christian Wilkins-DT-Clemson

The Ravens could really use someone to pair with Brandon Williams on the defensive line and I believe
it could be Wilkins. Plug him at 3-4 DE or the 3-Tech DT, Wilkins will be a force on the defensive line
offensive coordinators will have to stop on Sundays.

15. Detroit Lions-Ahmmon Richards-WR-Miami(Fla.)

If it weren’t for injury concerns, I’d have Ahmmon as a top 10 pick, but the Lions are able to get him
here and plug in with Golden Tate to be their next young WR star. Richards has elite deep threat
ability and I could only imagine the damage done with Stafford in Detroit.

16. Atlanta Falcons-Clelin Ferrell-DE-Clemson

If Clelin Ferrell shows he can be a Day One guy over the season then this would be a good landing
spot. With Takk and Clelin on the front line and Vic Beasley and Deion Jones as LB’s, Atlanta’s
front seven could look pretty scary in the future.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars-Shaq Quarterman-LB-Miami(Fla.)

The Jaguars lost Paul Posluszny in the offseason to retirement and they still haven’t filled the hole
at MIKE linebacker so this year, they go after Shaq Quarterman one of the best inside linebackers
in the draft and get stronger on the defensive side of the football.

18. Oakland Raiders-DeAndre Baker-CB-Georgia

The Raiders add a reliable cornerback in DeAndre Baker to pair with Gareon Conley. They get a
major superstar to recreate their defense. Baker is going to be a senior in 2018 and he will likely
be the 2nd CB off the board. The Raiders finally make a good pick.

19. San Francisco 49ers-Damien Harris-RB-Alabama

Damien Harris a talented RB and the 49ers weakest position is really RB so they target Harris. I think
he has a really good slippery ability and should make the San Francisco 49ers a playoff team, something
they fell below of in 2018.

20. Carolina Panthers-Joe Jackson-DE-Miami(Fla.)

With Julius Peppers aging, I think Carolina has to start thinking about a new DE and Joe Jackson fits
the bill here. He’s incredibly impressive in Miami and he can be a huge impact for Carolina on the
defensive side of the ball. Keep an eye on Josh Allen from Kentucky as well.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Josh Allen-LB-Kentucky

Josh Allen is a really good linebacker and could end up being a really good fit for Tampa Bay if
Kendell Beckwith doesn’t perform up to the standards of a starting linebacker. He can play well
and should be a good player for the future.

22. Philadelphia Eagles-Michael Jackson-CB-Miami(Fla.)

The Eagles could use another cover corner is Sidney Jones doesn’t perform up to standards this
year which makes it possible that the Eagles draft a corner. Michael Jackson is likely the top corner
on the board and will be a good pick for Philly.

23. Tennessee Titans-Chauncey Gardner-S-Florida

Gardner is a top safety in this class and he would be a huge addition for the Titans in
improving their defense and pushing them further into the Playoffs. The offense is pretty much set,
but now the defense is set for the future with the big hitter in Gardner.

24. New England Patriots-Justin Herbert-QB-Oregon

Tom Brady should be close to retirement by now and the Patriots need a new QB. Justin Herbert has
a lot of potential and could be the guy in the future for the Patriots. This would keep their offense in
decent shape and they could build around Herbert in the future.

25. Kansas City Chiefs-Raekwon Davis-DT-Alabama

The Chiefs did get Derrick Nnadi in the 3rd Round of the 2018 Draft, but Raekwon Davis can be a 3-4
End or even play Nose Tackle over Nnadi if needed. The Chiefs get a quality defensive player and they
will improve with this selection.

26. Dallas Cowboys-Collin Johnson-WR-Texas

The Cowboys get a strong, big WR who can play really well. Collin Johnson can be the
replacement for a young core in Dallas that makes the offense a juggernaut like it was in 2016. The
Cowboys are getting a good receiver here and he should play well.

27. Green Bay Packers-Will Grier-QB-West Virginia

The Packers play the Draft game well and draft another QB to develop behind Aaron Rodgers to
keep them moving. Grier is a really good QB, but I feel better QB’s overshadow him which causes
the Packers to steal a real stud.

28. Denver Broncos-Ken Webster-CB-Ole Miss

If the Broncos can’t resign Bradley Roby, they would have to get a new starter through the Draft
and Ken Webster would be a great addition. As a big time defender for Ole Miss he could translate
and develop like Roby and we could keep him.

29. Minnesota Vikings-Beau Benzschawel-OG-Wisconsin

I mocked Will Hernandez to the Vikings in 2018 and they failed to get him so they go after Beau
Benzschawel a really good guard they can develop and put onto the line with Pat Elflein. This is a
quality pick they can take to improve their offense.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers-Zach Allen-DE-Boston College

The Steelers can get a really good defensive end that broke out at Boston College this season. He is
sure to continue his trend of growth and the Steelers could pull the trigger on him and add him to the
defensive line with TJ Watt and Cam Heyward.

31. Houston Texans-Deebo Samuel-WR-South Carolina

Sure it seems unlikely the Texans go the Super Bowl LIII, but if they do and lose, getting a quality WR
for their offense to pair with DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller could be crucial in winning the
championship. Deebo is one of my favorite players and he could go high.

32. Los Angeles Rams-David Stills V-WR-West Virginia

Sure the Rams superteam is great, but once they leave it’s all over so if I’m Les Snead I keep the
young pieces and let go of the older pieces while drafting replacements to develop them. David
Stills has star potential and I believe he will be great in LA.
