2019 Draft QB Overview
Nick Gaschler
People are calling the QB Class this year terrible, but I disagree severely. Although the 2018 QB
Class was legendary, the 2019 QB Class should live up past the hype at this point as I see a couple

The Top Guys
Drew Lock-Mizzou
Lock is the top QB in this class. He has his issues, but overall, Lock has a lot of traits that are too
advanced to pass up and I feel he could end up being the number one player selected next year.
He has the prototypical size and arm and plays well in his system. However, his deep accuracy is
concerning and some of his work in the pocket can be confusing, but overall, Lock has a lot of upside.
In terms of comparisons to recent draftees, I’d say Josh Allen is closest to him without the decision
making and major accuracy issues.

Jarrett Stidham-Auburn
This early after my evaluations, I don’t know whether to rank Stidham in this tier or Herbert, but I’m
feeling Stidham more. He has an incredible ability to be able to thread the needle with his ball
placement. He has incredible arm strength and can throw for long yard deep. He anticipates well as
well which makes him more advanced as a passer. However, he could work on his ball security and
being able to make quick decisions. Additionally, he could look to add velocity on his passes, but overall
Stidham is going to be good in the future.

Upside Guys
Justin Herbert-Oregon
Herbert was a very impressive QB on tape and I’m ready to go watch him in 2018. He’s in the upside
group because he has the ability to improve through the season and could end up passing Stidham or
even Lock for being a QB1. The kid has a big arm and he should be really good in the future.

Ryan Finley-NC State
I was not expecting the talent Finley displayed on tape. Sure he’s not the greatest QB in the class, but
he has so much potential already that with his decision to stay another year could turn lethal for the
NFL is he becomes elite and a top QB in the draft. His potential is off the charts as I mentioned, and
I believe his rise is only just beginning.

The Big Group at 5-8
Will Grier-West Virginia
Grier is a really good QB as well, but he’s in a big group with a bunch of other QBs that could rise
through the season and some guys who at are about the same skill set as each other. Grier, however,
has a lot of upside too which means he for me is the frontrunner to take the 5 spot and maybe move
forward past it.

Khalil Tate-Arizona
Tate reminds me a lot of Deshaun Watson. He’s an okay passer and an electrifying runner, but his
decision making is lackluster just like Watson for a couple years ago. If he follows in the star’s footsteps
he should get past that issue and turn into a top 5 QB which I think he has the ability to do so.

Shea Patterson-Michigan
Shea Patterson is on the lower end of this big group. I was really hyped from saw great highlights I saw,
but Shea has a lot of problems and I feel the weapons he had at Ole Miss such as Greg Little, AJ Brown,
and Jordan Wilkins may have really affected his play this season. His season at Michigan is going to
make the difference in where he will go in the Draft next year.

Clayton Thorson-Northwestern
Thorson is the lowest player in this group and while he definitely has good ability, his durability, athleticism,
and deep ball ability are really, really iffy and I don’t know if he will be able to perform well because of
his recent injury. Overall, Thorson has an opportunity to be a really good QB in the class, but he’s going
to need some work.

The Rest of the Guys
Daniel Jones-Duke
Daniel Jones is certainly a really good QB, but he just isn’t at the level of the other guys. He doesn’t
have many weapons around him, but still is a Top 10 ranked QB in my opinion and has the ability to
be a really good player in the ACC and a decent backup in the future.

Jake Bentley-South Carolina
I don’t get a good feeling from Jake Bentley. He’s playing daddy ball in college and I think he’s a very
untame player who needs to mature in order to be selected any higher. I wouldn’t even consider
drafting him in the first 3 rounds thus far unless he improves.
