2019 NFL Draft Early Preview

2019 NFL Draft Class Preview
Nick Gaschler

Today I give you my opening thoughts on the 2019 NFL Draft and who could end up going high.
Stay tuned for my first set of position rankings coming soon.

The Top Guys

Ed Oliver-DL-Houston

Who wouldn’t expect Oliver to be #1 on this list. Oliver is an incredible talent and from the little bit of tape
I’ve watched on him, he may be one of the most athletic players I’ve seen. He’s just naturally explosive
and makes plays. I’ve seen him chase down Courtland Sutton about 30-40 yards in this years game
against SMU. I’ve seen him make plays against plenty of teams and I feel that he will be the top pick.
He’s the athletic freak that Saquon Barkley and Myles Garrett were in the last two drafts.

Nick Bosa-DE-Ohio State

Clearly the defensive talent in this draft is going to be superior to any other NFL Draft class we’ve seen
and another Bosa brother headline this class. Bosa is a top tier defender and since he was given more
playing time he had a chance to show out and make plays like a pro. He was a candidate for B1G
Defensive Player of the Year and I believe he could win it this year. Bosa is going to be the top defender
and if he’s as any good as his brother, he’ll go top 3.

Drew Lock-QB-Mizzou

The record holder for single season SEC touchdown passes, Drew Lock is going to show out this year
as one of the SEC’s top 3 QB’s joined by Tua Tagovailoa and Jake Fromm. Regardless, I think Lock
and Mizzou will be a contender to challenge Georgia for the SEC East and if he builds off of his big
year last year, he is surely to be a top pick in the 2019 Draft.

Dexter Lawrence-DL-Clemson

Big Dex is a big baller. He is an incredible defensive tackle and has the ability to be an elite nose tackle
in the NFL. Although I don’t think he is anywhere close to the talent Oliver has, Big Dex will make a huge
impact on the next level and should guide the Tigers to compete in the ACC and all of College Football
as he has in the past two years.

The Next Level

Greedy Williams-CB-LSU

I’ve heard great things about Andraez Williams, otherwise known as Greedy Williams. He had a breakout
season as a redshirt freshman and I think he can build around his talent he has right now and turn into a
potentially top 10 pick.

Rashan Gary-DL-Michigan

The former #1 recruit in the country could end up being a top pick in this year’s draft. After a disappointing
freshman campaign, Gary broke out in his sophomore campaign and I was happy. He showed his impact
as a scary edge/3-4 defensive end that will make him great.

Greg Little-OT-Ole Miss

Regarded as the best offensive tackle in the class and former 5-star recruit, I’ve heard good things about
the kid. He’s going to be a beast at left tackle and should make a real impact in a good, not great Ole
Miss football team.

Jarrett Stidham-QB-Auburn

Stidham is a really good QB as we found out last year on the big stage of Auburn. He’s an SEC Giant
slayer and I think If Fromm or Tagovailoa don’t do as well as they did, Stidham will be a top 2 QB in
the SEC. Stidham will be good on the next level.

Josh Allen-LB/DE-Kentucky

I’m hearing a lot of hype about Josh Allen this year as he had a really good year this year and was
expected to come out in 2018 but is staying back. Allen should make more of an impact this year
and I think he will be great on the next level.

Christian Wilkins-DT-Clemson

I like Wilkins a lot and I think he is going to be a really good defensive tackle this year. He’s got a
bunch of experience and is playing on a really good defensive line. Wilkins will likely be a 1st Round
prospect and I’m excited for him in 2018.

Jonah Williams-OT-Alabama

Jonah Williams has been widely hyped and did very well at left tackle this year after Cam Robinson
left. If he continues to play at this level he will be the 2nd best offensive lineman in the loaded, loaded
class.

The Wild Cards(For Me)

Bryce Love-RB-Stanford

Love is one of my favorite college players, partly because I’m a Stanford fan, but partly because he’s a
really good runner. He has been a borderline 1st/2nd round guy and I think if he steps up this year, Love
will be a high first rounder

Shea Patterson-QB-Michigan

Patterson isn’t loved by many people thus far, but I think he has an opportunity to be a really good QB
in Ann Arbor and he could guide them to an elite level in 2018. His draft stock depends a lot on this
season here.

The Rest of the Top Prospects

AJ Brown-WR-Ole Miss
Joe Jackson-DL-Miami(Fla.)
Trey Adams-OT-Washington
Shaq Quarterman-LB-Miami(Fla.)
Chauncey Gardner-S-Florida
Raekwon Davis-DT-Alabama

The Big Time Narrative

  1. The Trench Talent

Wow this class is shaping up to be something great in terms of offensive and defensive line. Greg Little.
Ed Oliver. Dexter Lawrence. Jonah Williams. Trey Adams. Raekwon Davis. Beau Benzschawel. Jeffrey
Simmons. You see my point? This class is going to be a really strong class if everyone ends up coming
out. Get ready folks, the big boys are coming.
